tech question...my cellphone died

tech question...my cellphone died so I have just ordered a new one with *gasp* text messaging!!! I'm very excited because my old phone is about 5 year old. (I believe in getting my money's worth out of my gadgets!) Anyway, here's a question for you more tech oriented...how do I get all the phone numbers out of the dead phone??? :-( I'm very sad cuz many of my new friend's phone numbers are in there and nowhere else...

in theory you can take old and new phones to the store of the phone service you are using and ask them to see if they can transfer the numbers. Depends on how "dead" your old phone is. You may have to leave it there for a while (day or two).

I may be wrong but I'm don't think that you can if the phone won't power on at all. You can get it off your SIM card but I think your phone may predate SIM cards. Other than that some companies keep a list online of all incoming and outgoing phone s for the last 3 months. So you can get at least some of your numbers if they do.

I have had a SIM card phone for 6 yrs What is the phone? is it say samsung 370/g bla bla bla. If you know that I will better be able to help you. Take the battery off and look inside for a little slot with a card in it, or did your phone ask where to store #s when you added a new one?

I use this: but some service providers can transfer numbers from one phone to another - but it doesn't always work. my old samsung wouldn't transfer to my newer model samsung, fyi. do you have verizon? can you download games & services? they have a service that holds onto your numbers online, so that you can go from phone to phone and not worry about losing numbers.

usually I use the pen and paper method, but was being lazy lately. I will go back and look at the old phone records, that will pull a lot of them. The phone service said it couldn't do anything, and the phone is too old to communicate with the inet or anything. I think I'm sol... :-(

every time you see your friends tell them to you because your phone died. It is a process but it save you from all that entering numbers crap. good luck I just went through this myself. Still missing some numbers but I got most of them.
